The Foggy Mirror, a simple blog about my interests--fun ideas, startup dreaming, and more.
Welcome to The Foggy Mirror by me, Chris Maer.
It’s pretty similar to my Twitter page @chris_maer, which you can access here. I like to think about fun ideas that help people—technology, science, philosophy, and the beautiful mundane.
Why did I pick the name The Foggy Mirror?
Well, I didn’t spend too much time on it. When the prompt came up asking me to name my blog, I started with Chris’s Blog. Then I quickly realized that is a bit boring and not very descriptive. Since it’s a blog about my interests, I then thought about who I am as a person, or who I want to be.
I want to be someone who examines myself, a mirror, but I also realize that is very difficult, hence the fog clouding my judgement. As a result, The Foggy Mirror was born.
Who am I?
Let me think about this, and I’ll get back to you in another post. Right now, I prefer to remain pseudonymous.
What will I write about?
I intend for this to be a more substantive version of my Twitter feed. Over there, I Tweet about startup ideas, artificial intelligence, popular science, slightly learned science, occasionally philosophy of knowledge, and the “beautiful mundane.”
I’d like for this blog to be easy to read, yet provide useful insights (for myself, and hopefully you). I want to avoid overwrought intellectualism and emotional turbulence. I’d like for this to be a groovy place!
Thanks for getting to the end of my first blog post. Over the coming weeks, months, and years, I hope to build up an interesting and valuable body of knowledge.
Peace. Thoughts. Insight.
-Chris
